The Graduate Program in Mathematics at the Instituto de Matemática, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (PPGM - IM - UFRJ) received a number of candidatures for a PNPD Posdoctoral Fellowship position.
After evaluation all the candidatures, the program has selected the following candidates for the positions:

The candidates must have strong research potential and must have obtained their Ph D degree between January 1, 2015 and December 1, 2020. The candidate's application must be supported by a member of our Graduate Program, who will act as Supervisor. A full list of current members of our Program can be found at

The Fellowship's stipend is of R$ 4.100,00 per month (Brazilian reais, tax free). The Fellow will also have a grant to be used for participation in scientific events, under rules determined by the PPGM - UFRJ. The Fellowship duration is of up to 24 months, with an initial period of 12 months, followed by a second period of 12 months pending a positive evaluation, by the PPGM, of a report submitted by the Fellow detailing his scientific activities before the end of the first 12-month period. Under extraordinary circunstances, the PPGM - UFRJ could grant a second and final 12-month extension, totaling 36 months.
The Fellow could be assigned a teaching load at the Undegraduate or Graduate level of not more than one subject (4 hs per week) per semester in his/her Supervisor's Department.
The candidates must send by e-mail the following:
1 - Cover letter declaring interest in pursuing research in the program;
2 - Curriculum Vitae;
3 - Research Project (up to ten pages);
4 - Letter from a member of our Graduate Program supporting the candidate and accepting being the candidate's Supervisor;
5 - Two reference letters;
This material, except for the reference letters, must be submitted in a single email (except for the reference letters) by December 1, 2019 to: Pós-Graduação do IM (IM-UFRJ) <posgrad@im.ufrj.br>, cc: César Niche <cniche@im.ufrj.br> and Manuel Stadlbauer <manuel@im.ufrj.br>. Reference letters must be sent separately, directly to these email addresses, by the professors writing the letters.
The selected candidates will receive an offer between December 7 and 15, 2019. The name of the Fellow will be published at the Gradute Program's website http://www.pgmat.im.ufrj.br/index.php/pt-br after the process is finished.
